Marco Tumminello, After Surgery and Rehabilitation. Interview with our Physiotherapist Daniele Burattini.
Marco – former primavera of Roma, then in force at Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio and now at S.P.A.L – unfortunately to bring you to us in UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital was a new injury that you suffered in your right knee.
I was about to return from the past crusader operated on in September and again this last injury occurred. Both the operation and the rehabilitation therapies, however, went very well and now I am ready to return to the field.
You were operated here at UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital on July 2 by the surgical team led by Prof. Volker Musahl, among other things the same surgeon who also operated on Zlatan Ibrahimovic and by Prof. Stefano Zaffagnini, a specialist with long experience in sports traumatology.
So what can you tell us, how did Marco's intervention go?
I am very happy with the operation because I already knew I was in good hands, both of the American team that operated on me and of all the staff here in Italy of UPMC. From the first day after the operation I was with my head ready for recovery, especially from a physical point of view but they all helped me also from a mental point of view and so I am happy also for this.
How did you find yourself at UPMC Salvator Mundi?
I had a great time. I have had trusted people next to me since the first post-operative day. I'm really well. The knee, as Daniele can say, responded very well to the rehabilitation that allowed me to fully recover from the injury.
After the surgery you faced an intense period of rehabilitation. Our team of physiotherapists accompanied you until full physical recovery and, this I ask our physiotherapist, Daniele what was it like working with a professional footballer? A great challenge.
Obviously we were all sorry for Marco's injury, because it was his third knee injury and specifically the second to his right knee. For the rest we were really very happy and honored to be able to follow him in our center and from the first day after the surgery Marco proved to be not only a professional on the field but above all outside. He was really smart and good. The knee responded very well and we are really very happy about it.
