Dr. Stefano Bandiera is an orthopedic surgeon with extensive and well-established experience in spine surgery, developed through years of clinical, surgical, and research activity.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna, where he also completed his residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology with honors.

His work focuses on the treatment of spinal and sacral conditions of traumatic, post-traumatic, degenerative, oncological, and infectious origin.

Since 2009, he has served as a Staff Physician in the Division of Degenerative and Oncologic Spine Surgery at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna. At the same institute, he holds a high-specialization role focused on the study and treatment of primary spinal tumors, and he also oversees both the Emergency Department and the division’s outpatient services.

Dr. Bandiera leads several major clinical studies, including research on pain management and survival outcomes in patients with spinal metastases from hematologic malignancies, as well as the preoperative application of carbon ion therapy in the treatment of chordomas of the sacrum and mobile spine.

He is the author of 174 publications in national and international journals (H-index: 17, source: Scopus) and 19 monographs, and has been an invited speaker at more than 200 scientific conferences in Italy and internationally.
