Dr. Larghi is a gastroenterology and digestive endoscopy specialist. He completed post graduate training courses in the United States in New York, including three years in internal medicine (Beth Israel Medical Center) and three years in gastroenterology (Columbia University). He was a clinical instructor in Medicine at the University of Chicago for a year where he refined the techniques for the complex resections of surface polyps and tumors of the colon, esophagus and stomach. He works on the Digestive Endoscopy Service, Polyclinic Foundation A. Gemelli IRCCS, Rome, where he founded the Ecoendoscopy service. His research activity focuses on the therapeutic eco-EN andoscopy (predictive and response factors to chemotherapy on tissue samples taken from eus-guided biopsy in patients with ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas), ablation with radio frequency for the treatment of ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms, recurrent gynecological tumors, pancreatic metastases from renal cell carcinoma and other neoplasms) and on interventional eco-ennencogophy (evaluation of the performance of the eus-guided drainage of the pancreatic collections, biliary drainage and cholecisti); and EUS-guided gastroenterostomy execution for patients with benign and malignant gastric obstruction. He is author of numerous scientific publications (more than 220 on Scopus). His surgery focuses on endoscopy diagnostics (gastroscopy and colonoscopy); endoscopic removal of polyps or surface lesions of the esophagus, stomach and colon; treatment with radio frequency of Barrett's esophagus; ecoendoscopy with biopsies for pancreas injuries, mediastine, abdomen, rectum and pelvis; drainage of the biliary way, of the gallbladder, and of the pancreatic collections; Execution of endoscopic anastomosis gastroenter; treatment with radio frequency of neuroendocrine and adenocarcinoma pancreatic tumors, pancreatic metastases from other cancers and neoplastic lesions of other nature.
