He currently is a staff physician in the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit at San Camillo Forlanini Hospital in Rome, focusing on vascular access management for hemodialysis. Additionally, he is staff physician in the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit at G.B. Grassi Hospital in Rome.
After his degree at La Sapienza University in Rome, he specialized with honors in General Surgery and subsequently in Nephrology and Arterial Hypertension. He also earned a Ph.D. in Surgical Pathophysiology with a final dissertation on advanced microsurgery techniques for creating vascular access for hemodialysis in newborns weighing less than 10 kg. During his Ph.D., he conducted clinical activity and research at Hôpital Saint Joseph in Paris, France.
Throughout his career, Dr. Stortoni has focused on diagnosis and treatment of chronic kidney failure, glomerulonephritis, and hypertensive nephropathy, with a particular emphasis on optimizing vascular accesses for hemodialysis and renal biopsies.
