World Cancer Day 2023
4 February 2023 – Every year about 10 million people die from cancer; Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide. However, it is estimated that about a third of all cancers can be prevented. With proper prevention, early diagnosis and timely, high-quality treatment and therapy, nearly 4 million lives could be saved every year. On the occasion of World Cancer Day, which is celebrated on February 4, Prof. PierCarlo Gentile, Medical Director of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center San Pietro FBF, talks about UPMC's commitment to ensuring access to the best possible care, in those territories where the supply of cancer therapies is still limited, through investments in technology, research and training.
