UPMC Italy Partner of the Women Economic Forum for the Mediterranean

24 October 2025

For the second year, UPMC Italy supports the Women Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled to take place in Palermo from October 30 to November 1, 2025.

Today the Mediterranean is a crossroads of climate, environmental, cultural, social, economic, and geopolitical factors that influence major global dynamics. The decisions and transformations affecting this region will have a direct impact on the world’s ability to tackle future challenges and seize upcoming opportunities.

In this context, the Women Economic Forum for the Mediterranean 2025 is an international event bringing together representatives from institutions, businesses, universities, and organizations from around the world to foster dialogue, build connections, and promote more equitable and sustainable economic, social, and cultural growth. Central themes of the forum include climate justice, health, sustainability, innovation, education, media, human rights, peace, and security, with the Mediterranean serving as a key vantage point.

Healthcare Without Borders: the ISMETT-UPMC Panel

As part of the event, UPMC will take center stage in the panel “Healthcare Without Borders”, focusing on the value of international healthcare cooperation and the protection of the right to health beyond geopolitical boundaries.

The panel will feature Dr. Giusy Ranucci, Head of Pediatric Diseases at IRCCS ISMETT-UPMC, and Dr. Enza Lo Re, Head of the Neurology Service at the Palermo Institute.

Through the presentation of international pediatric cases, the speakers will illustrate how, thanks to the ISMETT-UPMC program and well-established global partnerships, it has been possible to provide high-quality care and life-saving interventions to children from countries with limited access to treatment.

UPMC Italy for Women’s Empowerment and International Cooperation
