ISMETT-UPMC Confirmed IRCCS in Transplantation Area

ISMETT-UPMC confirmed as Italian Government‑Approved Research Hospital (“IRCCS”) in Transplantation Area. The decree, issued by the Italian Ministry of Health, in agreement with the Region of Sicily, formally acknowledges the Institute’s excellence in patient care, management, and research, thereby reaffirming its role as a leading reference within the national healthcare system.

The decree confirms ISMETT’s IRCCS status also extending it to ISPEMI (Institute of Preclinical Research and Molecular Imaging), the preclinical research platform developed by the Ri.MED Foundation, ISMETT-UPMC, and IZS, enhancing the integration between clinical care and translational research.

“This result is an important milestone and reinforces an integrated model in which translational research accelerates the transfer of innovation into clinical practice, with the aim of improving outcomes and enhancing quality of life for transplant patients”, states Angelo Luca, MD, Director of ISMETT and Country Manager of UPMC Italy.
