UPMC Hillman Cancer Center San Pietro FBF is affiliated with the National Health Service (SSN) and has agreements with major insurance companies.

After the visit, the radiation oncologist may schedule a CT simulation required for radiotherapy planning. Waiting times between the first visit and the CT simulation, and between the CT simulation and the start of treatment, are closely monitored; we are committed to ensuring timely initiation of treatment.

During the admission process, patients will be informed about the handling of personal data in accordance with current regulations (Legislative Decree No. 196 of 2003, EU Regulation 2016/679, Legislative Decree No. 101 of 2018).

Visitor access is always allowed, limited to one accompanying person per patient.

Documents Required for the First Visit

For the first visit, it is necessary to bring:

  • ID document.
  • Previous diagnostic tests and examinations related to the oncological condition.
  • Health insurance card.

Clinical Documentation

On the last day of treatment, patients are provided with two copies of the documentation related to the treatments received, along with all instructions regarding follow-up visits and/or diagnostic tests to be performed.

Rights and Obligations of the Patient

Every patient enjoys fundamental rights, including:

Right to participation in the treatment process. Patients should always be informed about aspects of the care process and medical treatment.

  • During the treatment process, they must be updated about the results obtained and any unforeseen outcomes.
  • They are always entitled to request a second opinion.
  • They are informed about their right to refuse or stop processing under their responsibility.

  • Promptly communicate the renunciation of scheduled health services to avoid wasting time and resources.

Have respectful behavior towards people and things. It is important to behave responsibly and collaborate with the health personnel, respecting and understanding the other guests of the Center. So, it is good:

  • Avoid any behavior that may create disturbance or discomfort to other patients.
  • Respect the environment, equipment, and furnishings that are inside the Center, considering them as if they were their own and that of all the others.
  • Respect the smoking ban and take care of your belongings, which must not be left unattended.
