Insurance and Agreements

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center San Pietro FBF is affiliated with the National Health Service (SSN) and has agreements with major insurance companies.

How to Access the Center

After the visit, the radiation oncologist may schedule a CT simulation required for radiotherapy planning. Waiting times between the first visit and the CT simulation, and between the CT simulation and the start of treatment, are closely monitored; we are committed to ensuring timely initiation of treatment.

During the admission process, patients will be informed about the handling of personal data in accordance with current regulations (Legislative Decree No. 196 of 2003, EU Regulation 2016/679, Legislative Decree No. 101 of 2018).

Visitor access is always allowed, limited to one accompanying person per patient.

Documents Required for the First Visit

For the first visit, it is necessary to bring:

• ID document.
• Previous diagnostic tests and examinations related to the oncological condition.
• Health insurance card.

Clinical Documentation

On the last day of treatment, patients are provided with two copies of the documentation related to the treatments received, along with all instructions regarding follow-up visits and/or diagnostic tests to be performed.

Rights and Obligations of the Patient

Every patient enjoys fundamental rights, including:

Right to privacy. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center San Pietro FBF guarantees the right to privacy and confidentiality of care (limited access to information, absence of information on paper, etc.). For the patient, therefore:

• It may require you to maintain confidentiality of personal records, pathology and care treatments.
• You can refuse consent to sharing information regarding your state of health with your family.

Right to choose freely and consciously. So that the patient can make informed decisions about the proposed treatment:

• They will sign the informed consent, this is the medical act required before any treatment or simulation CT, after obtaining clear, exhaustive and understandable information.

Right to complain. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center San Pietro FBF informs patients and their family members about their right to submit complaints regarding the care process and outpatient service.

• Complaints can be submitted by written or verbal reporting to the Administrative Directorate.
• To resolve any conflicts, we will analyze complaints and provide feedback on the medical activities we have undertaken.

Right to participation in the treatment process. Patients should always be informed about aspects of the care process and medical treatment.

• During the treatment process, they must be updated about the results obtained and any unforeseen outcomes.
• They are always entitled to request a second opinion.
• They are informed about their right to refuse or stop processing under their responsibility.

Right to receive adequate and comprehensive information based on patient needs. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center San Pietro FBF informs the patient by working to overcome physical, linguistic, and cultural barriers. In addition:

• It offers therapeutic paths that respect the religious and spiritual beliefs, values and personal convictions of the patient.

The right not to feel pain and to receive compassionate care. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center San Pietro FBF provides pain management support. In addition:

• The staff respects the patient's needs regarding the treatment of symptoms and pain management.

Right to be informed about your rights. Inside the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center San Pietro FBF, the written statement on the rights of the patient and his family members is posted. In addition:

• All patients are informed about their rights and obligations appropriately and using a language understandable to them by the staff of the Center.

Right to safety and security. Specifically, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center San Pietro FBF:

• It ensures the protection of patients' personal property from theft or loss.

For their part, the patient has the following duties towards our Center:

Collaborate and communicate with medical staff. In particular, the patient must:

• Comply with the rules that ensure the proper performance of the assistance and therapeutic activity.
• Promptly inform healthcare professionals of changes in their reference contacts.
• Inform doctors and healthcare professionals of everything that may be useful and necessary to improve the processes of prevention, diagnosis, therapy and assistance.
• Express at the time of acceptance – through the forms that you will be invited to sign – your will about the persons authorized to receive information on your state of health.
• Promptly communicate the renunciation of scheduled health services to avoid wasting time and resources.

Have respectful behavior towards people and things. It is important to behave responsibly and collaborate with the health personnel, respecting and understanding the other guests of the Center. So, it is good:

• Avoid any behavior that may create disturbance or discomfort to other patients.
• Respect the environment, equipment, and furnishings that are inside the Center, considering them as if they were their own and that of all the others.
• Respect the smoking ban and take care of your belongings, which must not be left unattended.
