ISMETT-UPMC: Dr. Vitulo Appointed Member of the National Ethics Committee for ATMPs

Patrizio Vitulo, MD, Head of the Pulmonology Program and Director of the Phase I Clinical Trials Unit at IRCCS ISMETT-UPMC, has been appointed as a member of the National Ethics Committee for Clinical Trials on Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs).

The independent body was established by the Ministry of Health to evaluate and authorize clinical trials involving innovative biotechnological therapies – including gene, cell, and tissue-engineered therapies – while ensuring the protection of participants’ rights, safety, and well-being, and upholding the highest scientific and ethical standards.

“It is an honor to be part of a strategic body for the advancement of clinical research in our country,” said Dr. Vitulo. “Advanced therapies represent the frontier of innovation in the treatment of many serious diseases or conditions lacking effective therapies.”
