MRI Mediastinum: How It Takes Place
The study almost always requires the administration of contrast medium and it is therefore necessary to present a creatinine test that assesses renal function. The patient lies in a supine position on the couch with a transceiver coil on the chest.
Mediastinum MRI: When to Perform It
This diagnostic test is usually requested by a specialist doctor depending on the symptoms and clinical suspicion. It is indicated in the following cases:
- Localization, characterization, and evaluation of reports of mediastinal lesions, which may be cystic, solid, or mixed.
- Differential diagnosis between tumors, hyperplasia, and thymic rebound.
- Evaluation of aneurysm, aortic dissection, coarctation, and congenital anomalies of the aortic arch.
