specialist-professional-biography-headingA specialist in Orthopedics and Traumatology since 1993, Dr. Alessandro Are has an extensive surgical case history focused mainly on skeletal trauma and its sequelae. Over the years, he has specialized particularly in Elbow pathology and the treatment of bone and ligament trauma of the upper extremity.He has been involved in Geriatric Orthopedics for many years, with a substantial surgical case history in osteoporosis fractures in both the elderly and post-menopausal women. He specializes in trauma and reconstructive surgery of fractures of the pelvis and hip as well as complex fractures of the tibial plateau and distal femur, a surgical activity he performed alongside Professor Pier Paolo Mariani. In the last decade he has devoted himself to reconstructive surgery of the outcomes and vicious consolidations of fractures as well as bone infections and their reconstruction by bone grafts and stem cell implantation.
He holds the position of Chief of Orthopaedics and Traumatology and Head of Department of Surgery at the Santa Maria Goretti Hospital in Latina, and is a member of the board of several national and international scientific societies, including the Italian Association of Pelvic Surgery (AIP), the Osteosynthesis and Trauma Care Foundation (OTC), and the European Society of Tissue Regeneration in Orthopaedics and Traumatology (ESTROT).
Between 2010 and 2018, he served as chief of the department of orthopaedics at Policlinico Casilino, helping to establish the facility as one of the leading elbow surgery centers in the region.
