Dr. James Casella

Dr. James Casella is a specialist in General Surgery with extensive experience in laparoscopic techniques.

His clinical focus includes abdominal wall surgery (hernias, incisional hernias, and rectus diastasis), bariatric surgery (gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, revisions after bariatric surgery in patients with weight regain and/or malabsorption.), biliary surgery (cholecystectomy), upper gastrointestinal surgery (hiatal hernia, esophageal achalasia, reflux-related conditions), and colorectal surgery (diverticular disease, functional and oncological conditions), as well as emergency general surgery.

Since 2020, he has served as Medical Director in General Surgery at Ospedale dei Castelli. He completed a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at King’s College Hospital in London.

Dr. Casella is the author of numerous scientific publications and a frequent speaker at national and international conferences. Since 2023, he has been a Review Editor for Frontiers in Surgery and served as Scientific Chair at the 2024 SIC Congress.
