Dr. Davide Cintorino

Dr. Davide Cintorino is Head of the Pediatric Abdominal Surgery and Transplantation Unit at ISMETT-UPMC, and Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the Department of Surgery, University of Pittsburgh.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery, completed his residency in Digestive Surgery and Digestive Endoscopy, and earned a PhD at the University of Palermo. He then completed a clinical fellowship in Abdominal Transplantation Surgery at ISMETT-UPMC, where he has been working since 2001.

Dr. Cintorino is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications in the fields of abdominal transplantation and hepatobiliopancreatic surgery. He is a member of leading international scientific societies, including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, and has been awarded the Honorary Diploma of the European Union of Medical Specialists for liver transplantation.

At ISMETT-UPMC, he has played a key role in the development of liver (adult and pediatric), kidney (adult and pediatric), and pancreas transplant programs, as well as the hepatobiliopancreatic surgery program. Over his career, he has performed more than 4,000 surgical procedures, gaining specific expertise also in laparoscopic surgery.
