Prof. Pietro Costa

Professor Pietro Costa is an experienced medical surgeon specialising in Paediatric Clinic and Child Care at La Sapienza University in Rome. His practice and research activities focus in particular on paediatric auxology and endocrinology. Since 1978 he has been working at the neonatology department of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome, where he also deals with paediatric orthopaedics.

At the Auxology Centre of the Istituto di Puericultura, Dr Costa has collaborated in the clinical evaluation and conduct of therapy of children with congenital corticosurrenogenital syndrome. His contributions have mainly concerned research into the most suitable screening protocols for identifying the disease.

He is also an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital hypothyroidism.
