        Dr. Fabrizio Di Francesco is Head of the Liver Surgery Unit at ISMETT-UPMC, where he leads surgical programs for adult and pediatric liver transplantation, living donor and split liver transplantation, and hepatobiliopancreatic (HPB) surgery.

        He graduated cum laude in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna, and completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Modena. He later earned a PhD in Surgical Sciences, Transplantation and Advanced Technologies at the University of Catania.

        Over the years, Dr. Di Francesco has trained and worked in leading Italian and international centers, including the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome, and UPMC in the USA. His career has been dedicated to abdominal and liver transplantation, both adult and pediatric, with specific expertise in living donor, split and partial grafts, and minimally invasive HPB surgery.

        He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications and actively collaborates in international research networks in the field of liver transplantation. He is a member of several professional societies, including SIGENP – the Italian Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and contributes to national and international committees on pediatric liver transplantation.
