Dr. Matteo Luciani

Dr. Matteo Luciani is a medical doctor and surgeon specializing in Hematology with more than forty years of experience in both clinical practice and research, with particular expertise in hematologic oncology and coagulation disorders.

After earning his degree in Medicine and Surgery and his specialization in Hematology from the Sapienza University of Rome, he completed an advanced executive program in Healthcare Organization and Management at SDA Bocconi School of Management.

Throughout his career, he has held numerous positions within the Department of Human Biopathology, Hematology Division, at Sapienza University, gaining extensive experience in clinical care, patient management, and scientific research.

Since 1996, he has served as a Staff Physician at the Division of Hematology and Oncology of IRCCS Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital in Rome. Since 2010, he has been Head of the Referral Center for Congenital and Acquired Hemorrhagic and Thrombotic Disorders.

Internationally, from 2010 to 2015 he served as a Visiting Professor at the Pediatric Residency Program of Bugando University College in Mwanza, Tanzania. Between 2022 and 2024, he participated in a mission at the Benghazi Children's Hospital in Libya, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), aimed at improving standards of care and enhancing treatment protocols for local patients. He is also involved in a distance-learning training project with Sullana Hospital in Peru.

Dr. Luciani is a member of numerous scientific societies and international working groups dedicated to the development of innovative therapies.

He is the author or co-author of more than 250 scientific publications and conference abstracts.
