Dr. Ilaria Macchi, M.D., an ophthalmologist, received her medical degree with honors from the University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome, where she subsequently completed her residency in ophthalmology, earning top honors.

During her training, she gained extensive international experience, participating in fellowships and research programs at the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, with specific focus on the anterior segment of the eye and the cornea.

She is co-founder and director of MAXO s.r.l., a company dedicated to research and experimental development in science and engineering. Dr. Macchi has significant editorial activity as a reviewer for the Journal of Ophthalmology and has authored numerous scientific articles published in international journals, with a focus on ocular surface pathophysiology, keratoconjunctivitis, and treatment of ocular diseases through innovative therapeutic approaches.  In addition, she has been involved in several multicenter clinical trials of international significance in the field of neurotrophic and inflammatory diseases of the eye, contributing as a sub-investigator.

She is a member of important scientific societies such as the Italian Society of Ophthalmological Sciences (SISO) and the Italian Association of Ophthalmic Physicians (AIMO).
