Giulio Maria Marcheggiani Muccioli is an orthopedic surgeon with extensive experience in the treatment of orthopedic conditions of the upper limbs, shoulder, and knee.  He is internationally renowned for employing innovative and minimally invasive techniques, particularly in arthroscopic and prosthetics (knee, shoulder, and hip) surgery, biological joint reconstruction, and meniscal transplantation. Additionally, he is an expert in sports medicine and computer-assisted and robotic orthopedic surgery.

After graduating with honors in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Bologna, he specialized with honors in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, completed a Ph.D. in Surgical Sciences, and a Master in Biomechanics, pathology and treatment of upper limb pathology. He further enhanced his training with fellowships in Japan, United States, and the United Kingdom, including the prestigious John Insall Fellowship in Knee Prosthetic Surgery, awarded to only 10 Italian surgeons in the past 20 years.

He is currently medical officer at the 2nd Orthopedic Clinic of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna (Knee and Shoulder Pathology). He is associate professor of Orthopedics at the School of Medicine, University of Bologna, where he teaches several courses including Diseases of the Musculoskeletal System and Sports Traumatology.

He performs more than 250 surgeries a year and his scientific production includes over 250 publications, including more than 100 articles in indexed international journals. He is an active member of numerous national and international scientific societies, a reviewer for prestigious relevant journals, and a member of the editorial boards of prominent academic publications.
