Dr. Francesca Mazza is a medical surgeon with a long career in the field of pediatrics and neonatology. She graduated with honours in Medicine and Surgery in 1975 from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart - Policlinico Gemelli in Rome. She passed the state examination in 1976, qualifying as a doctor and registering with the Medical Association of Rome and province.

She specialised in Pediatrics in 1978, Pediatric Clinic in 1982 and specialised in Neonatology in 1984 at La Sapienza University in Rome, and was qualified as Chief Pediatrician in 1987. She further enriched her training with a Master in Bioethics in 2005 and a Course in Healthcare Management in 2006. In 2007-2008, he completed a Postgraduate Course in Neonatal Brain and Organ Ultrasound at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome.

Dr. Mazza gained extensive professional experience, working from 1978 to 2015 at the Cristo Re Hospital in Rome, where she held various positions until becoming Director of the Complex Structure of Neonatology and Neonatal Pathology.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr Mazza has a wealth of academic experience, having taught at the ‘Armida Barelli’ School of Professional Nursing and the Hospital Medical School of Rome and the Lazio Region. She has also participated as a speaker at numerous neonatology conferences and was a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal ‘Impegno Ospedaliero’ from 2000 to 2014.

The author of numerous scientific publications on general pediatrics and neonatology, she collaborated on the drafting of the ‘Manual of Neonatology’ edited by Professor Ettore Menghetti, drafting the chapters on ‘Pathological Jaundice’ and ‘The child of a diabetic mother’.
