Dr. Antonio Picone

Dr. Antonio Picone is a biologist specialized in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry, with a solid background and 15+ years of experience in laboratory diagnostics.

He obtained his master’s degree in Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Veterinary Biotechnology at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – Policlinico A. Gemelli in Rome, where he also specialized in Clinical Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry.

Currently, he is a clinical pathologist at UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital, responsible for the management and interpretation of hematological, chemical, and microbiological tests, while coordinating laboratory staff and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Throughout his career, Dr. Picone has developed advanced expertise in laboratory diagnostics, with a particular focus on hematology, clinical biochemistry, toxicology, and urgent tests for inpatients and ER patients.

He has been a researcher at La Sapienza University in Rome and Sant'Andrea Hospital, conducting studies on new biomarkers to manage patients with sepsis, in collaboration with the Emergency Medicine and Emergency Department. This research contributed to improving diagnostic and therapeutic efficacy in critical clinical situations.

Additionally, he served as an instructor at the Local Health Authority in Rieti, delivering advanced training on "Quality in Laboratory Diagnostics," with a focus on internal quality control and external quality assessment, promoting excellence in diagnostic processes.
