Professor Stefano Treggiari is a medical doctor specializing in Thoracic Surgery, with over forty years of hospital experience and widely recognized expertise, particularly in lung, mediastinal, and pleural surgery.

Throughout his extensive career, he has performed thousands of surgical and endoscopic procedures, with a focus on the treatment of myasthenia gravis, diaphragmatic disorders, pulmonary and mediastinal neoplasms, including those in locally advanced stages or following neoadjuvant therapy, and pleural diseases.

He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery and obtained his specialization, also with honors, in Thoracic Surgery at La Sapienza University of Rome. He later served for many years as a lecturer in Thoracic Surgery both in the Postgraduate School of Respiratory Diseases and in the Bachelor's Degree Program in Nursing at the same university.

He enhanced his training through a fellowship in lung transplantation and organ retrieval at the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit of Papworth Hospital in Cambridge (UK), and he continually updates his skills in video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), endoscopic techniques (bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, mediastinoscopy), and respiratory failure management.

Professor Treggiari has extensive surgical experience in the treatment of pneumothorax, pleural effusions, and chest wall reconstructive surgery, a field in which he was among the first in Italy to adopt innovative systems such as Synthes.

Since 1993, he has held a full-time position as Senior Consultant at the Thoracic Surgery Unit of the S. Camillo-Forlanini Hospital in Rome, where he has been awarded a top-level specialization appointment (Category A2) for thoracic trauma surgery and management—an area in which he is widely regarded as an expert.

He is known for his excellent interpersonal skills and consistently receives highly positive feedback from patients, colleagues, and healthcare staff. A trusted mentor and reference point for young doctors and surgeons, he generously shares his vast professional, human, and interpersonal experience.

He is a member of several national and international scientific societies, including the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, AIOT, ACOI, CTSnet, and SICT, and is the author of numerous scientific publications.
