“Healthy Workplaces: Cost-effectiveness“ Workshop

“Healthy Workplaces: Cost-effectiveness“ Workshop, promoted by UPMC and Technogym, in collaboration with FPA and under the patronage of the American Chamber of Commerce in Italy

Due to the coronavirus outbreak and in line with Authorities' containment measures, the event scheduled on March 10, 2020 at Palazzo Bonaparte (Piazza Venezia 5, Rome) has been postponed (date TBD). This decision was made with due regard to the health and safety of all participants and speakers.

The Workshop will gather expert opinion on the health and economic value of preventative care programs designed to address modifiable factors associated with the onset of disease in a largely pre-symptomatic population. Preventative healthcare is defined as targeted measures taken to protect, promote, and maintain health over time, while minimizing the onset of disease. The advantages of a preventative healthcare paradigm include not only improved healthspan for individuals, but also a multitude of economic benefits, including decreased employee sick days, improved productivity, and increased employee satisfaction. As a result, economic evaluations are becoming an increasingly important consideration for small and large employers alike. Cost-Effectiveness Analysis is a powerful tool that has been used extensively in recent years to make informed decisions regarding cost-effective health interventions in areas like preventative versus curative health programs. It involves careful consideration of both the costs and the benefits of an interventional program with the goal of facilitating resource allocation and decisions about services offered. To this end, the primary objective of the Workshop is to provide an educational forum for regional partners to recognize and appreciate the economic benefits of preventative healthcare programs, and to promote their participation and support in lifestyle modification programs for their employees.
