UPMC Urgent Care: How Does It Work?

UPMC Urgent Care: How Does It Work? | UPMC Italy

The Urgent Care service offered by UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital is the ideal solution for dealing quickly and efficiently with minor injuries, traumas, states of discomfort, pain, flu, or infectious diseases. Differentiating itself from the usual options such as the emergency room or a visit to the general practitioner, this service stands as an advantageous alternative.

When it comes to minor illnesses or injuries, a visit to the family doctor offers many advantages. The doctor knows your medical history, has an in-depth view of your health condition, and can make informed treatment decisions. However, in situations where immediate treatment is required, he or she may not be available.

On the other hand, Emergency Room is reserved for serious situations and early intervention, such as major trauma or severe symptoms (such as chest pain, breathing problems, sudden numbness in the face, arms or legs, confusion, difficulty speaking, problems with vision, balance or coordination, etc.). If the problem is minor, going to the emergency room means facing long waits and burdening the National Health Service system.

UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital provides its Urgent Care service, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including on holidays. With no appointments required and no waiting, this service offers timely medical care when you need it.

Let's see what it consists of and how it works.

How does our Urgent Care service work?

At our facility, there are always specialists dedicated to this service, including an on-call physician, an anesthesiologist, and highly trained nurses. First, the doctor assesses the type and severity of your condition, as well as the symptoms you are experiencing. Based on your condition and, if necessary, he or she will involve other specialists for more in-depth diagnostics and to determine treatment. In more severe cases, hospitalization may be recommended.

In case of a serious emergency, such as unbearable abdominal pain, difficulty breathing or acute chest pain, we recommend going to the emergency room. However, if your symptoms are minor but you still wish to undergo a medical evaluation, our Urgent Care service is available to provide you with the best medical care, ensuring immediate access without a reservation.

When can I turn to UPMC Urgent Care?

You can turn to our Urgent Care in case of trauma (injuries, fractures), mild pain (joint, abdominal, thoracic, urinary system), if you have reason to suspect that you have an infectious disease, for general feelings of malaise that are not clearly identifiable, in case of worsening symptoms related to respiratory problems or allergies.
