Cardiology Open House September 28, 2024 | UPMC Italy

Join UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital's Open House dedicated to second opinion for heart diseases’ treatment.

Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death in the world. When faced with a diagnosis of heart disease, it is normal to have doubts about the diagnosis or the proposed course of treatment. Seeing a specialist for a second opinion is a common choice and does not imply distrust in physician but represents a willingness to access the most appropriate care. A second medical opinion may confirm what has already been indicated or suggest a therapeutic alternative.

Cardiovascular Diseases

They are still the leading cause of disability and death worldwide. They are diseases of the heart and blood vessels, which include:

  • Cardiac arrhythmias (eg, extrasystole, atrial or ventricular tachycardia, fibrillation, bradycardia).
  • Coronary atherosclerosis.
  • Cardiomyopathies.
  • Cardiac amyloidosis.
  • Ischemic and hypertrophic heart disease.
  • Immunologic or infectious endocarditis and pericarditis.
  • Heart failure.
  • Heart failure.
  • Congenital, degenerative, or inflammatory heart valve diseases.
  • Cerebrovascular diseases (e.g., stroke, transient ischemic attacks).

Some cardiovascular diseases are determined by genetics, so they affect the child from the moment of birth, others may arise due to the aging process, but many are closely linked to bad habits (sedentary lifestyle, obesity, alcohol abuse, smoking). For this reason, prevention, through the adoption of a healthy lifestyle, is essential to avoid or delay the onset of these diseases and their progression.

If you would like to have your situation examined by a second specialist and explore further diagnostic and therapeutic options to address the disease with more awareness and peace of mind, don't miss our free Open House.
