Robotic Orthopedic Surgery: What it Consists of
The high-tech robotic platform supports the surgeon in preoperative choices and in the course of implant application. It first creates an electronic model of the three-dimensional knee based on a preoperative CT scan. This model, together with the information transmitted by some sensors positioned on the joint during the intervention, serves to provide the surgeon with the surgical instructions useful to place the prosthesis in the right place and balance it perfectly. Secondly, the robotic arm allows the surgeon to position the prosthesis with absolute precision, saving bone tissue and achieving a perfect ligamentous balance.
Robotic Orthopedic Surgery: the Advantages
- Detailed visualization of the patient's specific anatomy.
- Greater precision in the surgical act and in the positioning of the prosthesis.
- Less invasiveness.
- Increased security.
- Noticeable reduction in pain.
- Punctual pre-operative planning.
- Reduction of hospitalization and post-operative recovery times.
