Photodynamics

At UPMC, we offer a photodynamic therapy service, the latest generation dermatological treatment for pathologies and imperfections of the skin. Photodynamics does not use medication, but acts on the cells by means of light through the application of the photosensitizer on the skin lesion. The beam of light reaches the damaged cells and, by stimulating oxidative reactions, repairs them.

The treatment is effective in many situations, has a low risk of side effects, and is considered a viable alternative to more invasive therapies.
