Pedobarography – UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital

At UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital, it is possible to undergo pedobarography for the functional and anatomical study of the foot and posture.

What is Pedobarography?

Pedobarography is a tool that allows to assess the morphology of the foot and identify potential dysfunctions in locomotor and postural biomechanics.

Our specialists use a pedobarographic platform connected to a computer system to study the patient in both static and dynamic positions, that is while walking or running.

This tool allows to study the foot's support measuring the pressure exerted at various points on the sole. By assessing load and distribution, it is possible to correct incorrect habits and postures or morphological foot conditions, using orthopedic insoles if necessary.

The duration of the test is approximately 15 minutes.

When is Pedobarography Indicated?

  • In cases of problems walking or foot support issues.
  • In cases of musculoskeletal pain, back pain, and foot pain.
  • In children, for diagnosis and prevention of potential posture or walking problems.
