The current Director of CECRO, Professor Senner is a pioneer in robotic bariatric and metabolic surgery. In 2000, he founded Germany's first robotic surgery center, the Robotic Surgery Clinic Munich, specializing in bariatric and general surgery. In 2003, he established the first university program in robotic surgery in Europe at the Medical University of Klausenburg (Romania); in 2010 he opened the Robotic Surgery Clinic in Switzerland, followed in 2012 by the opening of the Bariatric Robotic Surgery Department at Al Safwa Hospital in Egypt. Over the years, Professor Senner followed the technological evolution of surgical robots and in 2016 - after a year of experimental surgical research - implemented the first generation of the robotic suturing machine for bariatric surgery. In 2017, he was invited to Munich for a European expert evaluation of the new generation of the Da Vinci X robot. In the same year, he was awarded the Diploma of Excellence for his contribution to the development of minimally invasive surgery.
