        Dr. Luca is CEO of IRCCS ISMETT and Director, Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services there. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Dr. Luca was Vice Director of ISMETT from 2014-2016 and Director of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology from 1999-2018. He remains the Director of the Education Unit and Director of the Department of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services (Radiology, Endoscopy, Pathology, Laboratory, Infections, Diabetology, Psychology). He completed a clinical research fellowship in interventional radiology from UPMC Presbyterian (U.S.) in 1999 and a fellowship in hepatic hemodynamics at the Hospital Clinic i Provincial, University of Barcelona (Spain) from 1990-1994. Dr. Luca is an adjunct associate professor of radiology at the University of Pittsburgh and holds a certificate to practice radiology in Ireland and Pennsylvania (U.S.). He received is medical degree from the University of Palermo School of Medicine (110/110 cum laude) and completed residencies in Gastrointestinal Diseases and Radiology (both 50/50 cum laude). He holds an Executive Master's degree in Healthcare Management and Social Care Organizations (EMMAS) from SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan and has taken a course in Management of Health and Social Assistance Companies (MAS) also from SDA Bocconi School of Management, Milan.

        Dr. Luca is the author of 325 publications, 135-referenced articles, 181 published abstracts, 9 invited reviews and book chapters and has presented at over 60 international meetings. His areas of research include end stage organ failure with special interest in chronic liver diseases, portal hypertension, HCC, liver regeneration and organ transplantation.
