Professor Ribuffo is a plastic surgeon, full Professor of plastic surgery and director of the School of Specialization in Plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery of the University of Rome La Sapienza. He is also Director of the UOC of Plastic Surgery of the Polyclinic Umberto I of Rome. Among his main fields of interest are: plastic and reconstructive breast surgery; plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face; plastic and reconstructive surgery of the trunk; skin cancer surgery; and microsurgery. After his training, he gained several hospital experiences abroad, including Australia (Royal Melbourne Hospital) and in the USA at the University of Atlanta, in addition to Italy in Cagliari and Latina. He is well known for his ability to perform complex microsurgery in important national plastic surgery centers such as UOC of plastic surgery of the IFO-San Gallicano IRCCS and UOC of plastic surgery of the Hospital-University of the University of Catanzaro " Magna Graecia. He was among the first to introduce the sentinel lymph node method in Italy and described original techniques to limit damage from radiotherapy in breast reconstruction with expansion and prostheses. He is the author of 194 publications and scientific works that have also been awarded.
